Harvest

Though the vines are now mostly dead in our garden, (and those that aren't will be shortly--the weatherman is telling me we will have snow next week!) here is a report on the outcome of the Garden of '09.

I'd say it was a success!

Spring Garden

I am determined to have a bountiful garden this year, from start to finish. (It's the finish part that hasn't gone so well in the past. The stuff doesn't always ripen at a convenient time.) This year I'm off to a good start.

I decided to start my own flower annuals from seed this year. I've got impatiens (the tall plants in the middle), geraniums (you can't see them behind the impatiens), and petunias (the tiny plants in front). I'm not sure if the petunias are going to make it--they are so small. The seeds were so small that I had to use tweezers to plant them. I also have marigold and zinnia seeds that we will plant right into the ground. I'm so excited to see how everything looks when it has all bloomed!

These are peppers. Last year my pepper and tomato starts were eaten by snails. This year I am prepared with snail poison.

The tomato plants have already had a mishap--now there are only three instead of six and they don't look so great. Buck up little tomatoes! Think happy thoughts!
