Fall Sports

This fall Eggs on Toast and Junior tried out some sports that were new to them.


Soccer

Eggs on Toast had fun playing soccer.

He discovered that as well as kicking the ball, you run a lot in soccer, and he developed some stamina.

He also discovered that he really liked being goalie.

As it turned out, he was pretty good at it, too. Not many balls got past him.

Basketball

Eggs on Toast also tried basketball.

He learned all about dribbling, passing, and shooting.

Karate

Junior tried out Karate.

He learned punches,

kicks,

and blocks.

Junior's best friend took Karate, too, and is standing to the right of Junior in these videos.





They also learned some "stranger danger" techniques.

Basketball with Grandpa

We went to the gym with Grandpa and the boys started out playing a dodge-ball sort of game.

Then they played basketball with Grandpa.

Basketball with Grandpa means different rules.

Or in other words hardly any rules.

That may be because most of the boys don't know the rules.

Or maybe it's just fun that way sometimes.

Basketball

Buttermilk Sky has a good basketball team and coach this year. Though I don't think it's very nice to complain about the volunteer coaches, I feel compelled to mention that his coach last year held only two practices the entire time. (I guess I'm still a little irritated.) His coach this year holds practices every week and really works with the boys. Isn't that nice? Volunteer coaches like that really deserve something nice. I don't know what, but something.

Buttermilk Sky works really hard on defense. He stays with his man and keeps his arms up.

And look! He stole the ball! Woohoo! Right on!

Buttermilk Sky began this season fairly shy of the ball so I was impressed to see him handling the ball so much in this game.
